Mr. Goodwin is managing editor for presentation for Cox Ohio Publishing, a new position he was promoted to in November 2006. He had served as editor of The Middletown Journal since August 2003. In his role, he oversees the 52-member editorial production and graphics staff of Cox¹s four daily newspapers --¬ Dayton Daily News, Springfield News-Sun, JournalNews and The Middletown Journal ¬-- and the company¹s 10 award-winning weekly newspapers. Under his direction, his team completed a year-long project to consolidate the copy desk operations of the four daily newspapers into a universal desk, led the company¹s 48-inch newsprint reduction project, and is working on organizational restructuring, workflow production efficiencies and cost-savings measures for newsprint and wire service. He has served as a photographer, copy editor, reporter and editor at The Oklahoma Eagle in Tulsa, The Ithaca (N.Y.) Journal, The Courier-Journal in Louisville, USA TODAY and The Star-Ledger in Newark, N.J. He holds degrees in English and journalism from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. He is an active member of the American Society of Newspaper Editors, the National Association of Black Journalists and has coached youth basketball for more than 20 years. Mr. Goodwin has attended two API seminars: Compelling Storytelling in 1997 and City & Metro Editors in 2001.
