Susan Angulo, Ph. D.
Assistant Vice President, St. Thomas University

For the past nine years Dr. Susan Angulo has served the Miami community as co-director of The Miami Latin Film Festival. The event supports the film industry of South Florida by providing a venue for films from 17 different countries in 7 different languages. Dr. Angulo directs the fund raising, marketing, logistics of guest re-lations and training of the 70 some volunteers that make the Festi-val possible. Dr. Angulo is a Miami native. She completed an undergraduate de-gree and a Masters of Arts in Foreign Language Education at Flor-ida State University in Tallahassee and later completed an Ed. D. at Nova University in Higher Education Administration. She began her professional career with the Florida Migrant Child Compensatory Education Program in 1973, developing ESL pro-grams for Mexican migrant elementary school children in Ft. Myers, Florida. After 5 years in Ft. Myers, she returned to Miami and she accepted a full time position at FIU as coordinator of a Title VII bi-lingual education grant that provided in-service training in multicul-tural issues for public school administrators. She is currently Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs at St. Thomas University. Her responsibilities include oversight of the University library, Academic support ser-vices and off campus sites. Community service has be a very important part of her pro-fessional and personal life. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Spain/U.S. Chamber for five years. She has been a member of the Hispanic Heritage Council for 10 years.
