Steve Pope

Mr. Pope is responsible for the publication of the Vail Daily, the Vail Trail, the Aspen Times, the Glenwood Springs Post Independent, the Summit Daily, the Grand Junction Free Press and a collection of nine weekly newspapers along with a number of magazines, shoppers and specialty publications.

He is a 40-year veteran of the newspaper industry, and has worked in senior management positions for Gannett, Knight Ridder, and Media News Group. He helped start an alternative newspaper in the Houston area (Houston Press) and was publisher for the Detroit Metro Times alternative newspaper. Prior to moving to Vail, Mr. Pope was publisher/general manager for the Observer & Eccentric Newspaper Group in Michigan and operated his own newspaper and Internet consulting company.

He currently serves on a number of boards in the region and the Vail Valley, including the Vail Valley Chamber & Tourism Bureau (past chairman), Bravo (vice chairman), the Better Business Bureau, Rotary, Vail Valley Wine Auction (chairman), El Pomar Foundation, Vail Youth Foundation, and the Vail Valley Charitable Foundation.

He has attended NAA's Marketing Seminar.
