Producer/Editor, CanWest Interactive

Cathy Boucek
Producer, Ottawa Citizen and Montreal Gazette, Montreal, Canada

Cathy Boucek began her online career at the Montreal Gazette in 1996 -- just after the newspaper launched a website covering the Referendum. She was responsible for the editorial policy, production and content of the site as well as several national features including coverage of 9/11, the Sydney Olympics and the space shuttle crash. In 2000 Ms. Boucek began working as a producer on canada.com's national online travel channel. She was responsible for the design, structure and content on the site. She also wrote a weekly travel column in The Gazette and contributed to travel guides such as the Montreal Colour Guide and Fodor's Montreal Guide. In 2005 Ms. Boucek was named producer for both The Gazette and the Citizen newspapers.  In that expanded role she has worked with Ruth Dunley on several convergence projects including Little House in the Village, The Residents and Tracks to Freedom. Ms. Boucek holds a journalism and history degree from Concordia University where she occasionally teaches an online magazine course.
