Jim Maxwell

In January of 2006 Mr. Maxwell was promoted to the position of President and Publisher of the Pocono Record.  Prior to moving to the Poconos, he served as the Corporate Director of Advertising/Marketing for Ottaway Newspapers, Inc. in Campbell Hall, New York.   Ottaway is the Community Media Group of Dow Jones & Company, Inc.
In his corporate role he traveled extensively, acting as a consultant on advertising, marketing, and advertising production issues to the publishers of the 15 daily and 20 other publications which comprised the Ottaway company.  He was also responsible for developing strategies and corporate policy for print and online advertising best practices, directing market research, and was a member of the company's mergers and acquisitions team. 
Along with his Ottaway responsibilities, he served as a member of the Dow Jones Marketing and Integrated Solutions Councils with counterparts from the Wall Street Journal, Barron's, Smart Money Magazine, MarketWatch, WSJ.com, and the Dow Jones Indexes.
Before moving to New York he worked for four community newspapers over an 18 year period, including Ottaway's Medford and Ashland, Oregon properties. 
A native Oregonian, Mr. Maxwell is a graduate of Southern Oregon University.  He has attended three API seminars:  Revenues & Costs (1993), Executive Development (2005), and Newspapers Next/Columbia University (2006).
