The New York Times and Wall Street Journal have Chinese sites — too bad they’re blocked in China
Angela Doland takes a look at how the NYT and the WSJ sought new readers and revenue in the country, but why things didn’t go exactly as planned. It’s hard to gauge the impact Western news sites have on China’s population, but the two papers and their Chinese-language editions are certainly “important to the central government leadership,” says Peter Herford, former journalism professor at China’s Shantou University and former VP of the CBS news division.
