Shirley Qiu is the former Newsroom Success Manager at the American Press Institute, where she helped newsrooms using Metrics for News understand their data and use it to inform strategies for growing audiences, building loyalty and driving subscriptions. In August 2021, Shirley accepted the role of News Analytics Editor at The Washington Post.
She also serves as the VP of Communications for the Asian American Journalists Association. Before joining API, Shirley worked as the Features Producer at The Seattle Times, where she managed social media, newsletters and other audience engagement strategies for the Features section and Sunday magazine. She graduated from the University of Washington with a double degree in journalism and international studies.
